Backups and owner rescue

Save and restore roles and channels; get the server back if the owner account is lost.

Open the interactive guide Tick steps off as you go, with links straight to your dashboard.

  1. 1. Take a backup

A backup saves your roles, channels, categories and their permissions.

    /backup create · Dashboard: Access & backups › Backups

  2. 2. Check before loading

Info shows exactly what loading a backup would change, before anything happens.

    /backup info

  3. 3. Load it

Load puts back what’s missing or changed. Only the person who ran it, and the owner, can confirm.

    /backup load

  4. 4. Automatic backups (Kipp Plus)

With Kipp Plus, Kipp takes a backup every day and keeps the latest ones. Manual backups stay free.

    /backup auto

  5. 5. Set up owner rescue

Rescue gives the owner a one-time key and an authenticator code. If the owner account is ever lost or stolen, they can get Kipp control back from another account.
