Run fair ban appeals
Why appeals help, how to review them, and what Discord’s own appeals cover.
1. Give a clear way to appeal
A defined way to contest a punishment cuts down on arguments in public channels.
2. Keep it private
Handle appeals in private, never in a public channel. Walk the person through what happened calmly.
3. Review as a team
Discord suggests reviewing appeals together before answering and replying as “the team”, from a tool that keeps a full record.
4. Know what Discord’s appeals cover
User Settings › My Account › Standing appeals actions Discord took on an account. Server bans are your server’s decision, so members appeal them to you.
5. Use Kipp’s appeals
Banned members can appeal through Kipp (and from a public web page with Kipp Plus); staff accept or deny with one button, and accepting unbans them and tells them.
