Get the most from Discord’s built-in AutoMod
What Discord AutoMod can block, its limits, and where a bot adds to it.
1. Know what it filters
Commonly flagged words (insults and slurs, sexual content, severe profanity), your own keywords, words in member names, suspected spam (machine-learned, English only) and mention spam. Community servers also get an always-on filter for known harmful links.
2. Know its limits
Per server: 6 keyword rules, 1 spam rule, 1 commonly-flagged-words rule, 1 mention-spam rule and 1 member-profile rule. Each keyword rule takes up to 1,000 keywords of up to 60 characters and up to 10 regex patterns. Mention spam goes up to 50 mentions per message.
3. Choose the actions
Block the message (with a custom message of up to 150 characters), send an alert to a channel, time the member out (keyword and mention-spam rules only, up to 4 weeks), or block them from interacting.
4. Remember who it skips
Members with Manage Server or Administrator are always exempt, and AutoMod doesn’t check messages from bots installed in your server. Keep those permissions to a few trusted people.
5. Manage it from Kipp’s dashboard
Kipp can create and edit your Discord AutoMod rules for you, next to Kipp’s own Auto Mod, which adds what Discord’s doesn’t: a heat system across many filters, scam and disguised links, malware files, and a scam list shared between servers.
